Robert Darius Guinn papers, 1960-1965.

The collection consists of the typescript manuscript of Robert Darius Guinn's The History of Norwich University, 1912-1965 (copies also available in both special collections and in the Kreitzberg library's general collection), and his typescript manuscript for "The Contribution of Norwich University to the Civil War" (copy also available in special collections). The collection also includes materials Guinn assembled for articles entitled "NU Adversities" and "Norwich University: Its Trials and Tribulations," the latter of which includes appendices and comments by Sidney G. Morse. There is also a twenty-one page manuscript entitled simply "Norwich University."

Robert Guinn joined the Norwich University faculty as an assistant professor in the modern languages department in 1925. He became head of the department in 1927, a position he held until 1955. Guinn held many positions within the university, including acting director of athletics, commandant, dean, director of admissions, and guidance director among others.
